Project Professional has a perpetual license, which means the software never expires once activated. Microsoft Project 2016 for Office 365 requires an active subscription, which is available for about $25 per month. The 2016 version requires Windows 7 or later to install Office 365. The new version is compatible with plans from previous Microsoft Project versions and provides the option to save files for earlier versions to avoid compatibility issues.
